Obituary for Everette Howard Hewett Sr.
Everette Howard Hewett was born June 10, 1938 to Howard and Nellie Hewett. He grew up in Pampa and Monahans, TX. He graduated from Monahans High School and later attended Victoria College and Odessa College. On March 4, 1961 Everette married Wanell Phipps. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2021.
Everette served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. He served as a State trooper with the TX DPS from 1963-1973 in Victoria and Corpus Christi, TX. He worked as a Tax Appraiser from 1973-1976 and Tax Assessor/Collector from 1976-1980 with the Victoria ISD and the Chief Appraiser for Ward County, TX from 1980-1986. Everette was the Pastor of Bethany Baptist church in Monahans, TX from 1986-1994 and the Associate Pastor of Odessa Tabernacle in Odessa, TX in 1996. He was a Senior pastor in Wortham, TX and Mexia, TX from 1997 - 2013. Everette started E&W Windshield Repair and Replacement in 1997 and went full-time with the business in 2013 after retiring from pastoring. Everette and Wanell moved to La Porte, TX in 2018 to be near their daughter, Pamela H Phillips.
Everette and Wanell loved God and walked with Him their whole marriage. To tell their story is to tell of God’s grace, provision, and work in the world.
Everette is survived by his children and their spouses, Kenneth and Laura Hewett, Pamela and Donny Phillips, Everette Jr. and Michaela Hewett; grandchildren, Ben Hewett and wife Sarah, Andrew Hewett and wife Brittany, Sarak Phillips, Dominik Hewett and Eileen Hewett; great grandchildren; Parker and Levi Hewett; siblings, Dorothy Hamilton and Albert Hewett and many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
Everette is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Nellie Hewett, his wife, Wanell Hewett, his grandson, Jonathan Hewett and his siblings Hugh Hewett, Tom Hewett, Jack Hewett, and Joe Hewett.
A memorial service will be held in La Porte, TX in early Fall, date to be announced later.
