Obituary for Minerva "Minnie" Lewis

Minerva “Minnie” Lewis entered this world as a Castillo on September 17, 1951.  Although she was born in Texas she grew up in Tampico, Mexico .  Her parents Epifania Licea-Castillo and Octaviano Castillo raised a fine lady that all of us will miss.  Minnie earned her angel wings on Monday, August 2, 2021.  She was at peace and felt love, as she was surrounded by her family.

Minnie loved life.  She loved her family, her church and her friends fiercely.  Minnie loved to sing and all that were blessed to have heard, shared the same sentiment, she had a beautiful voice.  She served in her church choir and even long after, she sang her heart out for the Lord publicly or intimately.  Minnie was a missionary in Mexico, in the U.S., and anywhere else Jesus Christ led her and her husband.

Minnie was a champion of faith, and her devotion to Christ, her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and every other family member or friend was absolutely breathtaking.

Minnie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Herbert Lewis; her children; Cheri Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis & Mark Escobar, Kathy & Adrian Martinez and Donna & Maurice Villarreal.  She also leaves behind grandchildren;  Anthony Alaniz, Vincent Alaniz, Jerimiah Lewis, Maritza Velasquez, Alaya Blanco, Dustin Escobar, Alexis Delacerda, Givani Delacerda, Devin Martinez, Reese Villarreal, Raylan Villarreal. Also, her great grandchildren; Isaiah Santana, Aaliyah Santana and Solana Escobar.  With so many extended family members and friends, it would be impossible to name them all, but Minnie had a large family. Some have left before her and some are survived by her, but one thing we know is this, that the love of Christ was felt by each and every one of them through her.

Minnie touched many lives and will remain an inspiration to her family and friends for years to come.
To the world she may have been just one person; but to many of us, that one person was our world.   Rest well good and faithful servant.
